Youth parliaments of Pridnestrovie and Russia develop cooperation

The meeting between the youth parliaments of Russia and Pridnestrovie was held in Moscow on 27 August. The dialogue took place at the PMR Supreme Council. The agenda includes questions about the place and role of young citizens in the socio-political space at the state and local levels. Participation of Pridnestrovie in all-Russian projects and events was also noted.

According to the chairman of the PMR Youth Parliament Alexander Savich, the main topic of the conversation was the activities of youth consultative and public bodies, as well as their role in the regional representation.

The issue of reforming the future convocation of the Pridnestrovian Youth Parliament was raised. Joint work with Russian colleagues will allow studying the local specifics of Pridnestrovie and making a comparison with the experience of the subjects of the Russian Federation. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Youth Parliament Dmitry Shatunov proposed organizing joint educational programs to form youth teams to work on territorial projects.

Earlier the Youth Parliament of Pridnestrovie actively supported the dialogue in the process of analyzing the Russian experience in the sphere of social projects and legislative initiatives. Chairman of the Expert Council on Lawmaking of the Youth Parliament of the Russian Federation Dmitry Matyushenkov expressed his readiness to help analyze legislative initiatives.

Representatives of the youth parliaments also discussed the draft federal law “On the youth policy of the Russian Federation”. Various positions were considered on certain provisions of the law-in-draft. The greatest interest was aroused by the issue of increasing the youth age and regulating the age threshold at the level of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

The representatives of the Youth Parliament under the Supreme Council of the PMR were especially interested in the points of the law-in-draft concerning young citizens of Russia living abroad. Russian cultural space and Russian compatriots are iconic concepts for the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

The youth parliaments of the Russian Federation and the PMR agreed to develop cooperation on all issues that were discussed at the meeting, and to maintain a dialogue between young professionals from Russia and Pridnestrovie.
