Memorial Rally

Rally in memory of the head of the district Nikolai Ostapenko, who stood at the origins of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, was held in Slobodzeya district. He would have turned 71 on December 15. The flower-laying ceremony took place at the memorial plaque installed on the building of the Slobodzeya state administration.

The memorial event was attended by the Deputy of the Supreme Council for the electoral district No. 21 "Slobodzeya" Pavel Shinkaryuk, the head of the state administration of the city and district Vasily Tishchenko and the chairperson of the Slobodzeya district city council Tatyana Zalevskaya. The rally with the laying of flowers was then held at the stele on the outskirts of the village of Karagash – at the site of the shelling of Nikolai Ostapenko's car by members of the Moldovan terrorist group "Buzhor" on April 23, 1992. After receiving wounds, Nikolai Ostapenko passed away at the age of 38 a week later, on April 30.

Deputy of the Supreme Council Pavel Shinkaryuk noted the active life position of Nikolai Ostapenko, his honesty, integrity, responsiveness, love for people. The head of Slobodzeya district city council Tatyana Zalevskaya emphasized that the contribution of Nikolai Ostapenko to the formation and development of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic cannot be overestimated. The bright memory of Nikolai Ostapenko lives on in the hearts of the republic’s residents, it was emphasized at the memorial meeting.
