Moldavian nationalists launched armed aggression in Pridnestrovie 28 years ago. At the beginning of March 1992, four Pridnestrovians, soldiers of the Tiraspol battalion of the Republican Guard, were killed in the village of Kochiery, Dubossary district. Major Vasily Voronkov, warrant officers Leonid Tolstenko and Sergey Shinkov, sergeant Sergei Titovsky defended the wives and children of military personnel of the military unit.
Pavel Kuznetsov was commander of the first company of the Tiraspol battalion of the Republican Guard at that time. He says that Vasily Voronkov was the first who died, being mortally wounded.
Speaking today at the memory meeting, the President spoke about the need to give a legal and historical assessment of the actions of Moldova against the Pridnestrovian people.
The memory of the dead heroes at the Memorial was honored with a minute of silence. The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, vice speaker of the Parliament Galina Antyufeyeva, deputies of the Supreme Council, representatives of the Government, ministries and departments of the republic, relatives of the victims laid flowers at the graves of defenders.
