Various events dedicated to this memorable date for Pridnestrovians take place in the republic on the eve of the 25th anniversary of PMR. Among them there is the international scientific conference “25 years of independence of Pridnestrovie: Challenges and Prospects”. Scientific discussion on this important topic was held in the Pridnestrovian State University, October 1 that will celebrate 85 years anniversary this year, more significant than the republic.

The meeting of the "round table" was attended by Chairman of the Supreme Council Mikhail Burla, five convocations deputy of parliament Vladimir Bodnar, Vice premier Vitaly Ulitka, deputy Director of the Russian Institute of Strategic Studies, head of the Center Studies of the near abroad, the doctor of historical sciences, professor Tamara Guzenkova, Rector of PSU Galina Sandutsa, representatives of ministries and agencies, academia, experts, the public and journalists.

 

The head of the legislative body of the Republic drew the attention of the international conference that Pridnestrovians had little or lack of experience of the state building in the late 1980's and early 1990's. This differed our republics from others, at the same time proclaimed independent path of development - Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Nagorno-Karabakh. As part of the Soviet Union, as part of the Union of republics (the Georgian SSR and Azerbaijan SSR), they had their own autonomy.

 

According to the candidate of geographical sciences Mikhail Burla, Pridnestrovie had the potential for successful development in economic terms, since its territory has 40% of the industrial potential of the Moldavian SSR, moreover, that the population was only 16%. But as they say, history does not tolerate the subjunctive mood.

In the course of international conference that took place at the main university in the republic a number of scientific papers related to modern realities and global challenges, the international recognition of the role of education and science in strengthening statehood activity of the state apparatus was presented.

Deputy of the Supreme Council of five convocations, more than 13 years headed the Joint Control Commission, Vladimir Bodnar actively participated in current debates urged the participants of the conference, “We should never be subject to pessimism, disappointed in our choice, which was made 25 years ago. We cannot just due to the fact that we are not recognized, cast doubt and give up on its earlier decision on the construction of our own state. Faith and optimism will help us to overcome difficulties emerging towards the recognition of the Republic”.
