10.02.2023

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie reported on the day of the employee of the diplomatic service of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on the activities for 2022. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, Supreme Council Chairman Alexander Korshunov and Vice-Speaker Galina Antyufeeva, Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov took part in the work of the Collegium.

The PMR Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev focused in his report on the actual challenges faced by Pridnestrovie. According to him, the strategic position of the republic last year became much more complicated after the complete closure of the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border, due to a series of terrorist attacks and increased pressure from Moldova. The banking and financial blockade of Pridnestrovie that began in 2019, continues at the moment. Chisinau introduced new transport and logistics and trade and economic restrictions, administrative and bureaucratic barriers appeared for the import of food, medicines and other goods into Pridnestrovie.

Vitaly Ignatiev focused on the new amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova and tactics of Chisinau to imitate a dialogue with Pridnestrovie. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic stated that Moldova is purposefully pursuing a course towards degradation and destruction of the negotiation process.

The PMR Foreign Minister named among other negative factors the militarization of the neighboring state as well as the intensification of aggressive rhetoric and actions against the Russian peacekeeping operation on the Dniester. Vitaly Ignatiev emphasized that it is important for Pridnestrovian diplomacy to maintain active pragmatic communication with all international participants in the dialogue, substantiating the fact that the statehood of Pridnestrovie was created to protect its citizens, and that threats and pressure on the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will not lead to the expected results.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia Oleg Vasnetsov in his speech emphasized the importance of joint efforts on the track of the Moldo-Pridnestrovian settlement, calling the preservation of peace on the Dniester the most important task of bilateral cooperation. The diplomat touched upon the current situation within the 5+2 format, adding that the Russian side expects a meaningful dialogue and practical results from the forthcoming visit of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, as well as the meeting of the political representatives of Tiraspol and Chisinau.

The PMR President, summing up, focused on the tasks facing the Foreign Ministry. Vadim Krasnoselsky noted the need to continue the dialogue at various international platforms, including in the 5+2 format, and noted the high role of the Russian peacekeeping mission in maintaining peace on the banks of the Dniester. Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that the current peacekeeping format should be preserved. The PMR President drew attention to the amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova adopted by the Moldovan parliament, which give grounds to bring any Pridnestrovian to justice.

Those present at the collegium congratulated the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on their professional holiday - the Day of the employee of the PMR diplomatic service.
