The place of meeting of the Russian delegation in Bendery was not chosen by chance. It was here that half a century ago, the Russian regiments stationed. More than half of the Bendery military cemetery burial accounts for the period of defense of Sevastopol, the Balkan campaign. The Memorial is a monument in honor of soldiers of the 55th Podolsk Infantry Regiment. The memorial was opened to the soldiers killed during the storming of the fortress of Bendery. There is also an obelisk to the memory of the Soviet soldiers.
Military-Historical Memorial Complex in Bendery was built on the site of an abandoned military cemetery. The reconstruction was completed in 2008. Vadim Krasnoselsky, who served as Minister of Internal Affairs of PMR was among the organizers of the restoration work
Chairman of the Supreme Council offered a brief tour of the historic site for the Russian guests. As the Russians said that it is impossible to convey in words the impressions of what they have seen for the first time.
Russian guests and members of the Supreme Council have visited the chapel and put alive carnations to the Orthodox cross.
