The Family March

The Day of Family, Love and Loyalty is a relatively new holiday that has been celebrated in Russia since 2008. For several years now, July 8 is on the holiday calendar of our republic. It is dedicated to the day of the memory of Saints Peter and Fevronia, who are a model of Christian marriage. They are considered the protectors of family and marriage for Orthodox believers.

Traditionally, on July 8, celebrations took place throughout the republic. In Tiraspol, the celebrations began with a march of the family march in protection of Orthodox family values ​​from Drama and Comedy Theater named after N. S. Aronetskaya to “The Victory” Park. President Vadim Krasnoselsky and his wife walked through the streets of the capital with representatives of the clergy of the republic and Pridnstrovian families. The procession participant was the Chairman of the Supreme Council, Alexander Korshunov, with his wife and children. Families of parliamentarians and representatives of the republic’s departments took part in the festive march.

The main celebrations were held in “The Victory” Park. Representatives of the Tiraspol-Dubossary Diocese made a prayer service to St. Peter and Fevronia. Then the participants of the holiday witnessed the marriage ceremony of the married couple. They were congratulated by the head of state and his wife. The events continued on the summer stage with a concert program.

Addressing Pridnestrovians, the Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa noted that the Day of Family, Love and Loyalty is a church-state holiday, received its blessing in Russia.

Love, loyalty, care for loved ones are the main values ​​in the life of every person, says parliament speaker Alexander Korshunov. The future of the republic is in families in his opinion.

Couples celebrating anniversaries of life together were honored on the Day of Family, Love and Loyalty. The first persons of the state congratulated spouses who have lived in marriage for 40, 50 and 55 years. Those who have been married for over 25 years received medals of love and loyalty.

Creative teams of Tiraspol during the holiday performed for residents and guests of the capital. Workshops, exhibitions, family photo zones and a playground for children were organized in the park.
