“Through culture to peace and harmony” is the motto of the International Association of Cultural and Art Workers. The public organization celebrated its 30th anniversary. Anniversary events were held at the Palace of the Republic today.

Established on the 13th of January, 1993 in the post-war period for Pridnestrovie, MARKIS began to develop international relations in the field of culture and art, preserve the historical and cultural heritage, hold thematic festivals, competitions, and exhibitions. Programs about Pridnestrovie were broadcast on the People's Radio of Russia at the end of the 1990s thanks to MARKIS. It organized friendship concerts at the International Festival of Arts in Belarus, Ukraine, Russia "Slavianski Bazaar", as well as the international festivals "Kinoletopis" and "Kinologos" in Ukraine. Association members participated in international festivals, competitions, exhibitions in Italy, Slovenia, the USA, Taiwan.

The organization consists of cultural figures from the cities of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Pridnestrovie, Bulgaria, Poland. Galina Antyufeeva, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, congratulated the MARKIS members on the anniversary. She emphasized that cultural and artistic figures play a huge role in preserving peace.

The Vice Speaker conveyed congratulations on behalf of the Chairman of the Supreme Council and deputies. Galina Antyufeeva presented state awards to outstanding figures of culture and art. Special cancellation of the postal envelope for the anniversary of MARKIS took place today. The special cancellation ceremony was attended by the President of MARKIS Galina Galagan and the First President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Chairman of the Consultative Assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies Igor Smirnov, who supported the idea of creating MARKIS 30 years ago. He supports the organization in its work related to the travel of teams, the opening of exhibitions and the publication of books all this time.

The celebration of the anniversary brought together representatives of museums, libraries, the Pridnestrovian scientific community, the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese, as well as societies of Ukrainian, Bulgarian, Belarusian cultures in the hall of the Palace of the Republic. Vladimir Ladunkin, Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, conveyed congratulations and words of gratitude from Russian State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin for the work that MARKIS is doing in uniting and supporting compatriots. Congratulations were expressed on behalf of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo.

An exhibition of works by members of MARKIS - representatives of Pridnestrovie, Gagauzia, Ukraine, Poland was opened in the foyer of the Palace of the Republic.
