Benefits for the renewable energy sources creation and development

05.03.2025

The production of electricity using renewable energy sources will be stimulated in Pridnestrovie. The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic adopted today in the first reading at a plenary session, a package of legislations that are designed to create favorable conditions for the introduction of mechanisms to stimulate investors and domestic business entities to produce electricity using alternative sources. The task for government bodies to develop legislative norms in this area was set by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in February. The energy crisis has shown that the state must have alternative energy sources.

It is important to develop alternative energy sources and energy-saving technologies in the current conditions, when the supplied gas is enough only for household needs and to generate electricity for the population, and the industry is idle. In order to subsequently compensate for the deficit of electricity generated on gas, both for the population and for industrial enterprises.

The government prepared and submitted to the Supreme Council a package of legislative initiatives, which include an adjustment to the provisions of the law on investment activities and the classification of electricity production from renewable sources as a priority activity. Thus, this area will be supported at the state level and enterprises that will build solar power plants and sell electricity will be provided with a number of tax and customs benefits. The corresponding changes to the laws were adopted by parliamentarians in the first reading today.

Another support measure for investors in the field of alternative energy is a land tax exemption benefit. It assumes that land plots where power plants will be located that will receive electricity from renewable sources and sell it will be exempt from land tax for 5 years.

The Supreme Council Deputies had questions regarding tax preferences and the need to implement green energy during the discussion of the draft laws. The leadership of the PMR Government, which is the author of the legislations, answered all the questions. The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic adopted a package of legislative initiatives on the development and implementation of alternative sources of electric power in the first reading. The relevant parliamentary Committee will continue working on changes to the legislation in this area for the second reading.
