Who will service water metering devices?

05.10.2020

The Supreme Council received many appeals. People do not agree with the current norm of the law, which obliges to conclude a contract for the maintenance of water consumption meters. Deputies Anton Onufrienko and Grigory Dyachenko came out with a legislative initiative. The deputies proposed to exclude this provision from the current legislation and give the right to people to choose for themselves whether to conclude such an agreement or not. The Supreme Council is currently considering law-in-draft with amendments to the law "On drinking water supply in the PMR". Today, the Committee on State Regional Policy held an extended meeting to learn and summarize the views of all stakeholders on this issue.

In addition, there is a proposal from meter owners so that organizations that are engaged in the verification of metering devices take for service not only the device itself, but also the entire metering unit.

Deputies of the Supreme Council came out with a legislative initiative that does not eliminate the institute of subscription services, but transfers it from the institute of mandatory to voluntary. That is, a person has the right to conclude such an agreement or not to conclude it.

The law-in-draft is planned to be submitted to the next meeting of the Committee on State Regional Policy and considered in the first reading.
