The in the first reading amending the laws “On Burial and Funeral Affairs”, “On Local Authorities, Local Self-Government and State Administration in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic” and the Code of Administrative Offenses were adopted in the first reading. The authors of the amendments are the deputies of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy Ruslan Gareev, Anton Onufrienko and Boris German. The reason for the development of the legislations was the requests received by the Supreme Council with a request to clarify whether commercial organizations of non-municipal form of ownership can provide services in the field of funeral business.
The deputies initiated changes to the legislation to regulate all controversial points. According to the authors, there should be competition in this sphere, which will give people the right to choose which organization to apply to – municipal or another that provides funeral services. The issues of maintenance of cemeteries are strictly within the competence of local authorities and subordinate specialized organizations. This opinion of colleagues from the profile committee was supported by the deputies.
The relevant committee, taking into account the comments, will prepare amendments for the second reading.
