Consolidate efforts against challenge to public interests

The President of the Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky held a meeting of the Security Council of the PMR. Its participants, including the speaker of the parliament Alexander Shcherba, discussed the situation with the organization of joint Moldovan-Ukrainian control on the Pridnestrovian-Ukrainian border, the website of the President reports.

Opening the meeting, Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized that it was a question of the security of the republic, drawing attention to the blockade of the actions taken by neighboring states. The president aimed the members of the Security Council to consolidate efforts to develop response measures.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev reported on the current situation on the border of the republic. He recalled the agreements signed by Moldova and Ukraine, including the organization of joint control, as well as the first phase of their practical implementation - the official opening in the summer of 2017 of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border crossing point "Kuchurgan".

The Minister listed the risks, which entail the agreement reached by Moldova and Ukraine. He noted that both exporters and importers will face problems: the number of permits will increase significantly. A complex situation develops with individual entrepreneurs: 11,000 Pridnestrovian patent holders involved in foreign economic activities will either have to register in Moldova or cease their activities.

Vadim Krasnoselsky emphasized, the republic cannot admit such a blow to the employment of the Pridnestrovian population. According to the President, this is the blockade - economic, humanitarian, social. The President called to declare its inadmissibility on all available sites, arguing the position of Pridnestrovie with actual facts and figures.

These specific figures were presented to the participants of the meeting by the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the PMR Alevtina Slichenko. She said that the Ministry of Economic Development is carrying out systematic work on risk assessment, starting from the end of 2016. The latest analysis shows that economic losses can reach about 40 million dollars.

Members of the Security Council are unanimous in their opinion - reliable information must be delivered to the maximum number of addressees. It was proposed to immediately hold a meeting of political representatives dedicated to the issue of joint customs border control, said Vitaly Ignatiev. The participants in the meeting of the Security Council of the PMR determined the parameters of the consolidated position and outlined further steps aimed at countering the existing challenge to the state interests of Pridnestrovie.
