More than two dozen teams attended the parade. Shorts and T-shirts are instead of the usual shirts and ties today. "The President's Family for a Healthy Lifestyle" regatta brought together those who were far from professional sports before. Representatives of ministries, departments, state administrations and the state university participated in the competition today. Amateur sportsmen from the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic – parliamentarians and employees of the Administration were among the teams.
Such regattas were previously held in Pridnestrovie, Vadim Krasnoselsky noted, opening the competition. Only professional rowers took part in it earlier. Amateurs have taken up the oars now. A month was allotted to them for training gave the teams an opportunity to learn. Not only how to conquer the water "dragon", but also how to work clearly and harmoniously – for the sake of an excellent result for the whole team.
The President expressed the hope that after the competition, many will become interested in dragon boat rowing and will continue to go out on the water with their family, friends and colleagues.
Rowing can hardly be called the most popular sport in the republic so far. However our professional athletes show good results in various international competitions. Including pupils of the Rowing Center in Bendery, on the basis of which the first competitions between non-professionals in the republic were held today.
The team of the Supreme Council carefully prepared for the regatta. The team includes deputies, employees of the Office of the Supreme Council and the Youth Parliament. There is only one person out of the 10 team members, for whom rowing is familiar. Anastasia Sergienko is a young parliamentarian. Even before launching, she was sure that her team had a chance and good one Even despite the fact that, according to the draw, a strong rival fell out in a pair – the team of the Administration of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, in which the PMR President and his wife took part.
There was launching after a short warm-up under the guidance of professional fitness instructors. The team of the Pridnestrovian parliament overcame 300 meters in one minute and 18 seconds, losing only two seconds to a strong opponent. Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov was among those who were on the bench and actively cheered for the team.

The team already believed that they had shown a good result for non-professional athletes even without knowing about the time for which their boat covered a given distance.
According to the results of the performance of all teams in the subgroup, the team of the Supreme Council was the third and advanced to the next round of the competition, which will determine the winner of the regatta. The final swims will be held this Saturday, on the 27th of August.
