The crime situation in the republic is under control, reported the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vyacheslav Brynzar in the course of the reporting board. The results of the state body for 2024 were heard by the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov and his deputy Galina Antyufeeva together with the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky.
The Investigative Committee investigated 3816 criminal cases last year (126 less than the year before) – mostly cases initiated based on new facts, but there are also resumed ones. Final decisions were made on 1613, and 915 were suspended, investigations are ongoing on 485. The number of pre-investigation checks has decreased. Representatives of the Investigative Committee of the PMR were regularly involved in the work of operational investigative groups. They went to a crime scene 5810 times, including 3310 times in cases of non-criminal deaths. An increase in the number of official checks was noted: 83 in 2023, 97 in 2024. According to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the PMR, the presence of violations is due to the insufficient experience of the employees. The personnel is often renewed. The understaffing of units is 28% (30 investigators). 17 experienced investigators resigned from the Investigative Committee last year, preferring to serve in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, as well as work in the Arbitration Court or the Law Institute. Work to improve the professional level of the committee's employees is ongoing, emphasized Vyacheslav Brynzar. The basic training platform is the Law Institute in Tiraspol.
The Chairman identified long investigation periods as a continuing problem. He also spoke about delays associated with the breakdown of equipment for conducting genotyposcopic examinations. The head of the department reported that the Investigative Committee reviewed 481 citizens' appeals, 115 people attended a personal meeting with the head in 2024. As for the return of funds illegally appropriated by criminals, as well as property seized and converted to the state or the injured party: the amount was 184.5 million rubles in monetary terms, which is three times higher than the 2023 figures.
The report of the head of the department was full of examples from the investigative realities of the past year. The Prosecutor of the PMR Anatoly Guretsky referred to it in his speech. The final speech was presidential. The PMR President gave a number of recommendations aimed at improving the work of investigative bodies. He spoke about the importance of continuous training of personnel, including the involvement of experienced employees and veterans of investigative bodies in the process. "Life is learning, and a problem is an exam," said Vadim Krasnoselsky. The President recognized the work of the Investigative Committee of the PMR based on the results of 2024 as satisfactory.
