Board of the PMR Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the results of 2024

20.02.2025

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie reported on its activities for 2024. The board meeting was held online. The report of the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev was received by President Vadim Krasnoselsky. The Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov and the heads of parliamentary Committees and Commissions took part in the work of the board.

Presenting the report, the PMR Foreign Minister noted that Pridnestrovie has been facing a special challenge formed by a combination of three factors of external influence, which have now reached an unprecedented level over the past few years. The first of them is global and regional instability associated with a deep crisis in the modern system of international relations and the reorganization of the world, the press service of the PMR MFA reports.

The second special challenge is the artificial "coma" of the negotiation process, the main reason for which is Moldova's refusal to use diplomatic methods to resolve problems. Vitaly Ignatiev expressed bewilderment at the position of some external participants in the settlement, who have been indifferently watching Chisinau's complete disruption of all agreements for years, including the 2016-2018 package of agreements, ignoring initiatives of Pridnestrovie to improve and intensify dialogue, and not noticing Moldova's actions to grossly destroy the economic basis of the PMR in violation of free trade norms and EU rules.

The third factor is the blockade and restrictive measures of neighboring Moldova, associated with massive human rights violations, according to the PMR Foreign Minister.

Vitaly Ignatiev recalled the initiative of Pridnestrovie to send a joint appeal calling for continued transit of Russian gas, noting that the Moldovan side not only rejected it, but organized an information campaign to discredit Russia and the PMR and primitively intimidate people, within the framework of which the statements of Moldovan officials were of an emphatically inhumane nature.

The Foreign Ministry will continue to focus the attention of the world community on the need to respect human rights and seek to overcome stagnation in the negotiation process in the context of Moldova's inhumane approaches, according to Vitaly Ignatiev. He focused on the constant support of the Russian side in the issue of resuming the full-fledged work of the "5 + 2" format, as well as in protecting the peacekeeping operation.

the PMR MFA maintained systematic communication with the Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian MFA Tryapitsyn. The PMR President met with the Russian ambassador with the participation of the relevant minister on March 6 and June 21. The Minister of Health of Pridnestrovie Kristina Albul met with her Russian counterpart Mikhail Murashko on the sidelines of the Second Abkhaz Medical Forum in April. An important event was the participation of the Pridnestrovian delegation in the World Youth Festival in Sochi. The Official Representation of Pridnestrovie in Moscow celebrated its fifth anniversary in 2024. The head of the representation Leonid Manakov spoke at the 57th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, drawing attention to numerous facts of violation of the rights and freedoms of the population of Pridnestrovie by Moldova.

27 events were held in the line of cooperation between the PMR MFA and foreign countries and international organizations. The meeting of the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky with the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign, European Affairs and Trade of Malta Ian Borg (April 12, 2024) was highlighted, as well as the meetings of the PMR Foreign Minister with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Thomas Mayr-Harting held at the Foreign Ministry on June 5 and October 11 in terms of interaction with mediators and observers.

The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky called the activities of the PMR MFA significant and recognized them as satisfactory based on the results of 2024. The President emphasized the primary role of diplomacy, noting that many local problems and international conflicts could have been avoided with a full and effective dialogue. He focused on the value of compromise, emphasizing that compromise is not a surrender of interests, but a movement towards each other. Vadim Krasnoselsky spoke about the importance of implementing any kind of agreements in the legal field and their practical implementation. The PMR President instructed diplomats to continue working to resume the negotiation process, as well as to solve a strategic task for Pridnestrovie – strengthening the international legal basis for the recognition of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Work to preserve history in its true form and strengthen the identity of the Pridnestrovian people are among the presidential instructions.
