The history of the customs in Pridnestrovie has deep roots and a clearly expressed Russian vector of development. In the second half of the 18th century, in 1795, the Decree of Empress Catherine II was issued. At the same time, the Tiraspol (Sredinnaya) fortress appeared, which became an outpost of the Russian Empire in this direction. The Russian border and customs guard functioned in our region until 1836 - until the border was moved to the Prut. Then the Tiraspol customs was part of the Odessa customs district.

Today, modern information technologies are being actively introduced into the work of the customs authorities of Pridnestrovie, which make it possible to significantly increase the efficiency of customs clearance of goods, their passage through checkpoints and improve the quality of service to participants in foreign economic activity. At the customs checkpoints of all customs offices, innovative technical means of customs control, new equipment, including those providing effective radiation control already at the stage of importing goods into the territory of Pridnestrovie, are used and introduced. The work of law enforcement departments of customs authorities is being improved. In order to combat the smuggling of weapons, drugs, counteract human trafficking and other crimes, the Pridnestrovian customs officers carry out daily painstaking work to ensure control over the observance of the PMR customs legislation, based on the principles and norms of international law.
