Fire department workers in Pridnestrovie celebrate their professional holiday on April 17. The service dates back to April 17, 1918, when the Decree “On the organization of state measures to combat fire” was adopted in Soviet Russia. It was this document that played a significant role in the formation of the fire department and determined the development strategy for many years. A fire department was formed in Pridnestrovie under the PMR Internal Affairs Directorate after the USSR collapse in 1991. It included all divisions of cities and towns that came under the jurisdiction of the Republic. The department was reorganized into the Main Directorate for Emergency Situations in 2008. This has been the Fire Department of the Main Directorate for Emergency Situations since 2012.
The PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Rosenberg, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Main Directorate for Emergency Situations took part in the festive events.
Pridnestrovian firefighters were presented with keys to 5 new fire trucks for their professional holiday; they were delivered to the republic the day before from China. The fire trucks were purchased within the framework of the state target program “Re-equipment of fire department service vehicles for 2023–2031”, previously adopted by the Supreme Council. The development of the program began in 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic made its own adjustments, and procurement work was postponed. Work on the state program continued after the end of the pandemic, and it was approved in 2023.
The vehicles were manufactured in 2023 by order of Pridnestrovian firefighters and taking into account requirements. These are advanced models equipped with the latest technologies to combat fires. The vehicles are equipped with a powerful diesel engine and the necessary technical equipment for work. The volume of the tank is 5 thousand liters; the tanks of old cars held 2-3 times less. New vehicles are capable of fighting complex fires. The fire pump can supply water at a rate of up to 40 liters per second. The combat crew of such a vehicle is 6 persons.
2 new fire trucks will remain in Tiraspol, 3 are intended for Slobodzeya, Bendery and Rybnitsa.
