How will be the work of the State Duma in 2019

The committees will interact more with experts and regional legislators, parliamentary control will be strengthened, and the appeals of deputies to the ministers should lead to specific result. This was announced by Vyacheslav Volodin in his speech on the results of the autumn session that ended.

A separate issue is parliamentary control. Legislators will control the spending of budget funds for the implementation of national projects and state programs. The Prime Minister regularly visits the State Duma, including for reporting to deputies on the work of the Government. Medvedev confirmed that the Government is ready to work with every Duma deputy.

The completion of the work of deputies this year coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and the first elections of the State Duma. During this time, more than 27 thousand legislations have been submitted to the chamber, more than eight thousand laws have been adopted. These figures are backed by concrete work, the effectiveness of which is proved by the growing confidence of Russians in the current standards. The speaker cited data from the Public Opinion Foundation, according to which in September 2018, 53 percent of the polled citizens rated Russian laws positively. Four years ago, less than half of respondents thought so — 46 percent.

The quality of legislative work largely depends on how this work is structured, therefore, during the spring session, deputies should first focus on the work of the committees, Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized. First, expert structures will now appear on the committee sites.

Volodin also urged to intensify the interaction of the committees with regional legislative assemblies.

The leader of the United Russia faction Sergei Neverov noted that the deputies were able to solve the most important issues relating to the pension system, waste management and the protection of the rights of shareholders.

According to the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov, today Russia has every opportunity to reach the world pace of economic development and poverty alleviation. The head of the Fair Russia faction Sergey Mironov highlighted the law adopted by the State Duma on the abolition of intranet roaming, after the entry into force of which in six months the Russians will save more than 36 billion rubles.

Over the past 25 years, the traditions of effective State Duma cooperation with the Government have been laid, Dmitry Medvedev said. This, however, does not mean the absence of criticism from parliamentarians.
