The "Improvement and preservation of burial sites of Heroes of the Soviet Union, full holders of the Order of Glory and Memorials of Military Glory of the Great Patriotic War" state target program for 2024-2025 was developed and adopted in Pridnestrovie for the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Its goal is the reconstruction and repair of burial sites of Heroes of the USSR, full cavaliers of the Order of Glory and Memorials of Military Glory of the Great Patriotic War. These are monuments and memorials in Tiraspol, Bendery, Dubossary, Slobozia, the villages of Kitskany, Sukleya, Malaeshty, Tsybulevka, Plot, villages of the Grigoriopol district and the village of Pervomaysk. The parliament approved a report on the implementation of this state program in 2024 today. Repair work on memorial sites is supervised by the Ministry of Defense of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The funding amounted to 10 million 659 thousand 267 rubles, 7 million 493 thousand 777 rubles were actually spent (70.3% of the plan) in 2024. The money was allocated from the Capital Investment Fund and work on 10 out of 12 sites was fully completed in 2024. Repairs at two more sites – the Memorial of Military Glory in the city of Bender on Heroes' Square and the Memorial to the Victims of Fascism in the city of Dubossary – were completed in the spring of 2025. The reasons for the delays were bad weather conditions and adjustments to the project documents.
Repairs are planned in 2025 at 12 more monuments according to the passport of the State Central Project and memorials erected in honor of the soldiers who defended the republic from the fascists. It is not yet clear whether they will be financed given the difficult economic situation.
There are 197 monuments commemorating the defenders of the Fatherland during the Great Patriotic War in Pridnestrovie. Full-scale restoration, major reconstruction, and repair work on monuments and burial sites associated with the Great Patriotic War have been carried out in the republic since 2009. A targeted presidential program was in effect for the restoration of memorials, monuments, commemorative signs, and graves of soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War and the defenders of Pridnestroviet hat time. More than 65 military memorial sites were restored, more than 30 mass graves and complexes were equipped with autonomous lighting, and the "Eternal Lights" were gasified within the framework of the first state program. 12 portrait sculptures of Heroes of the Soviet Union buried on Pridnestrovian soil and monuments to natives of our region were installed.
