The current Law of the PMR "On Education" will enshrine a new concept – an information system for recording progress. We are talking about the work of the "Electronic Journal" automated information system. The gradual transition of the usual school magazines to electronic form began recently. Many Pridnestrovian schools have been keeping double records of academic performance - both in paper and in electronic form since the beginning of the last academic year. More than 100 Pridnestrovian schools are ready to completely switch to the electronic accounting format. Working with such a system allows teachers to give grades, just as before, but do it in electronic format. You can write down homework in the "Electronic Journal", parents and teachers to correspond, make notes, sum up the quarter: the program itself calculates the average score, and the teacher sets the final mark. Parents have the opportunity to monitor their child's progress in real time through a personal account.
According to the Minister of Education of the PMR Svetlana Ivanishina, this format has proved its effectiveness.
During the discussion of the law-in-draft, the Chairman of the parliamentary committee on education, science and culture, Igor Buga, asked how the Electronic Journal helps teachers. This reporting system helps reduce paperwork, according to Svetlana Ivanishina.
The deputies of the Supreme Council supported the law-in-draft in the first reading. Amendments will be made to it when preparing the draft law for the second reading. According to the Chairman of the relevant committee, the initiative needs to be seriously finalized and additional consultations should be held.
Another change to the Law of the PMR "On Education" concerns the rights of gold and silver medalists. The norm that gives an advantage to applicants with a gold or silver medal to enter state-funded places in universities, colleges and technical schools, will be enshrined at the legislative level now. At the same time, enrollment occurs in accordance with the Admission Rules of the vocational education organization itself. Previously, this rule was spelled out in by-laws.
The deputies passed the law-in-draft in two readings at once. It will enter into force immediately after signing by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
