Who should organize the transportation of children to schools and kindergartens located far from the villages where schoolchildren and kindergarten students live. The deputies put an end to this issue at the plenary session today, having adopted the government initiative to introduce amendments and additions to the Law of the PMR "On Education" in the final reading.

The responsibility to deliver children to schools and kindergartens was assigned previously to the state administrations of villages or urban-type settlements. However, according to the Minister of Education Svetlana Ivanishina there is no such body as the state administration of a village (urban-type settlement) in the system of state authorities and administration, as well as in the system of local self-government bodies of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The Government took the initiative at the legislative level to assign these powers to the state administrations of cities and regions for this reason. During the discussion of the bill in the first reading mode, the deputies supported the initiative, but recommended that it be finalized.

The profile committee prepared several amendments to the law-in-draft for the second reading. The deputies adopted it at the plenary session today. The state administrations of cities and regions will organize the transportation of children to kindergartens and schools in rural areas and back, if the distance from the place of residence to the educational organization is more than 1 km now.

According to the authors of the law-in-draft, and the deputies support them, the new norm will provide transport services for pupils of rural educational organizations, which in practice will create safe conditions for the movement of children from their place of residence to the place of education and back in rural areas.

The amendments set a date for the amendments to come into force. The new measures will come into effect on the 1st of January, 2023.
