The procedure for forming a program of voter orders has been changed

17.07.2024

The Supreme Council adopted amendments to the law “On Voters’ Orders” in the final reading. The right to formulate voter mandate programs based on written requests from people is legally established. It was previously possible to formulate orders only at general meetings of voters. Deputies of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, Vadim Kravchuk and Gregory Dyachenko proposed to supplement the current procedure for forming orders.

Written collective appeals to deputies of the Supreme and local Councils must be signed by at least 10 voters in the relevant electoral district, according to the adopted changes.

Deputies clarified the procedure for holding meetings of voters with amendments to the second reading. Parliamentarians stipulated that if a deputy of the Supreme Council is absent, then the meeting is held on the initiative of at least 10 voters and (or) deputy (deputies) of the local Council for the district. In this case, the orders are approved by the session of the local Council, and they are transferred to the Supreme Council. If there is no deputy of the local Council of People’s Deputies in the electoral district, then it is also possible to hold a meeting on the initiative of at least 10 voters in the district and (or) a deputy of the Supreme Council in whose electoral district there is no deputy of the local Council. After that the voters’ orders are sent to the chairman of the local Council for inclusion in the municipal program for executing the voters’ orders.
