The initial stages of the election campaign in preparation for single day of voting the first in Pridnestrovian history - registration and nomination of candidates - is completed. The Central Election Commission summed up the interim results. According to last, but not the final data of the CEC, 136 candidates out of 157 applicants were registered for deputies of the Supreme Council. The fate of the four nominees will be decided in the near future. According to the head of the CEC Yelena Gorodetskaya, the courts made a decision requiring to register two more. One application would be reconsidered.
The CEC chairman said that more than 95% of candidates - self-nominated (150). Labor collectives nominated all three candidates, a group of voters in the community delegated four representatives. The vast majority of nominees (145) are with higher education. The rest have specialized secondary education.
Among the citizens who have received a certificate of the candidate, 30 holders of existing mandates, that is, the current members of the Supreme Council expect to continue parliamentary activities in the sixth convocation. The fate of two statements of current members of the Supreme Council has not yet been solved. 15 deputies of local councils expressed a desire to represent the interests of voters in the supreme legislative body. Representatives of the executive power expect to achieve the deputy chair: three members of the Government, the Head of Civil Service and Deputy Head of State Administration of one of the districts of the republic are registered as candidates.
The final list of candidates will be published after the judgment on several complaints of potential candidates who were denied registration.
As for the local elections, 512 candidates were registered totally in the republic. The biggest "competition" is in Bendery. 85 people want to be candidates to the City Council, that is, three candidates will be competing in the average for each portfolio. Two candidates claim the deputy chair in Tiraspol and Dubossary. 98 and 90 are recorded in these cities respectively. 59 candidates are registered in Grigoriopol district, Slobodzeya - 45, in Rybnitsa – 98, in Kamenka - 37.
The texts of the ballot for elections to the Supreme Council of the 23 forty-three districts were approved at the next meeting of the Central Election Commission. They are in the process of finalization. In addition, a committee of representatives of the Central Election Commission will oversee their manufacturing in Bendery by "The Printing". CEC members discussed additional degree of ballot papers protection in closed session. November 29 urban residents receive two ballots at the polling stations in the hands, in villages - four.
