The Board of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of the republic, based on the results of its work for 2023, was held in an online format. Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Galina Antyufeeva and deputies of the Supreme Council took part in the work of the board.
Chief Sanitary Officer and head of the Republican Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology Natalia Beril noted that the main task of all hygiene centers is prevention of infectious diseases, prevention of harmful environmental factors for humans, and the control of vaccination of the population.
The training of specialists and the renewal of personnel remain priorities to ensure reliable protection of public health, it was noted at the board. There is a shortage of staff in the hygiene and epidemiology centers, especially doctors at the moment. A wide range of measures are being carried out to ensure the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population, including monitoring the quality of air, water and soil, as well as monitoring compliance with sanitary norms and rules in educational institutions and industries despite this factor. Sanitary and hygienic laboratories of the republic conducted 36239 laboratory tests and measurements in 2023, which is 11.2% more than in 2022.
Special attention was paid to measures aimed at preventing the spread of infectious diseases, as well as responding to the emergence of new epidemics and pandemics. The trends in the spread of various diseases are analyzed and the effectiveness of the measures taken to control and prevent them is evaluated.
Natalia Beril noted among the important tasks the intensification of work on immunization of the population against infectious diseases within the framework of the calendar of preventive vaccinations.
As a result of the immunization of the population in accordance with the State Target Program "Immunization of the PMR population for the period 2021-2025", it was possible to contain the indicators of infectious morbidity. No cases of polio have been reported for more than 30 years. No cases of rubella have been reported since 2007, and no cases of measles have been reported since 2008, except in 2018, when 1 case was recorded. Isolated cases of diphtheria were reported in 2002 and 2009. Sporadic cases of whooping cough and mumps have been recorded. The incidence of viral hepatitis B among the entire population decreased from 5.8 per 100 thousand people in 2006 to 0.6 in 2021. There were no cases of acute viral hepatitis B in 2022-2023, the report of the chief sanitary officer noted.
Specialists of the state service provided services for sanitary and epidemiological expertise of new types of food products, as well as developed regulatory and technical documentation for products last year. 1883 subjects were under control, 221 control measures were carried out at food facilities and 235 inspections at manufacturing enterprises in 2023. Medical examination coverage of working organizations of industrial and agricultural purposes in harmful and dangerous working conditions increased and amounted to 98.9% in the reporting year in the republic.
