There was an extended reporting session of the board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Palace of the Republic. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, leadership and employees of the foreign policy department, representatives of the ministries and departments of the republic participated in the meeting. The guest of honor of the meeting was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Farit Mukhametshin.
The report on the activities of the Ministry in 2017 was made by Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev. Beginning with the outcome of the negotiation process with the Republic of Moldova, he emphasized that last year Chisinau gradually increased its pressure on Pridnestrovie. These are detentions and arrests of Pridnestrovian motor vehicles, intimidation of the citizens of the republic at the airport in Chisinau, deportation of individual citizens, actions aimed at undermining the peacekeeping operation. Against this background, the processes on the installation and functioning of Moldovan-Ukrainian posts on the border of Pridnestrovie with Ukraine intensified. All this, according to Vitaly Ignatiev, occurred outside the framework of the negotiation process, with a flagrant violation of the existing agreements.
However, despite all the difficulties that have arisen, they tried to expand the range of international cooperation in Pridnestrovie. The leadership of the republic took part for the first time in the events that took place at various venues in such countries as Great Britain, Israel, Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy.
One of the most significant events of the year is the participation of official representatives of Pridnestrovie (including Speaker of the Parliament Alexander Shcherba) at the meeting of the PACE special subcommittee on conflicts between the member states of the Council of Europe. An important role was played by the appeal of the leadership of the PMR to the UN. As it was noted today, the landmark message was not unnoticed. The settlement of unresolved conflicts in Europe, including the Moldovan- Pridnestrovian conflict, will become one of the 12 main directions of the UN's work in 2018.
During the session of the Collegium, it was noted: last year all state bodies for the first time began to act as a single diplomatic front. This, according to diplomats, significantly strengthened the potential for implementing the foreign policy agenda. The active participation of the Supreme Council in international activities was noted by President Vadim Krasnoselsky.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova Farit Mukhametshin congratulated all employees of the diplomatic service on the coming professional holiday. The Day of the diplomatic worker in Pridnestrovie is celebrated together with Russia on February 10.
At the end of the meeting, the distinguished workers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received departmental awards.
