A meeting of the Board of the Ministry of the Interior was held in an expanded format. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky, deputies Grigory Dyachenko, Alexander Korshunov and Oleg Belyakov, representatives of ministries, departments, heads of cities and regions of the republic took part in the adoption.
It was in compliance with the rules of the traditional ceremony of laying flowers to the monument to employees who died in the line of duty. The Interior Minister summed up results of operational activities of the bodies and departments of the Ministry of Interior in 2018.
Interior Minister Ruslan Mova said that for the first time in many years, a large-scale reform was carried out at the Interior Ministry. A part of the personnel did not pass certification for professional, physical and combat training. The staff was significantly reduced.
The Minister stated: a large-scale reform gave the first positive results. Last year, the crime rate in the republic decreased by 12.4%. The number of crimes amounted to 3949 - this is the lowest figure in the last 16 years. Detection exceeded 90%. Last year there was murder, robbery, hooliganism, hijacking and theft.
The main part of traffic accidents occurred on the republican roads. Reducing the number of accidents in cities was possible thanks to the decision to reduce the speed limit in the city. Special inscriptions on zebras, “Be careful”, “Take your child by the hand” call for the watchfulness of pedestrians.
Despite the positive dynamics, the number of fatal traffic accidents increased last year. According to the President, law enforcement officers need to analyze the situation and redirect their forces to the most dangerous sections of roads. Improving the situation on Pridnestrovian roads will help, including the introduction of a point system for drivers. This is one of the points of the State Development Strategy.
It was noted during the meeting that last year there was a significant outflow of personnel in cities and regions of the republic. The President ordered to strengthen the work of the ministry’s personnel management. The heads of state administrations are instructed to establish effective cooperation with the local militia.
The President spoke of the need for legislative changes. The law "On Militia" was adopted in 1995. The document has been repeatedly amended. It is necessary to develop and adopt a new law that would correspond to modern realities. In addition, it is necessary to approve the concept of combating corruption.
In general, the President estimated the work of the Ministry of the Interior in 2018 as satisfactorily.
