The plenary session of the Supreme Council today was entirely devoted to the Government's report for 2020.
The Chairman of the Government Alexander Martynov in his report noted the main challenges faced by the republic last year. Of course, this is primarily the pandemic. The state had to promptly take emergency measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. It was necessary to find financial resources for the necessary medicines, equipment and salaries for doctors. The Supreme Council together with the Government developed measures to support the population and economic entities.
In addition, last year the situation in the economy was seriously complicated by a large-scale drought. Many land users have suffered losses. Budget adjustments were required to preserve funding for socially significant items.
In total, the cost of combating the pandemic last year amounted to 311 million rubles, or 2.2% of GDP. In general, the economic decline amounted to 6.5% of GDP.
The deputies after the report asked the Chairman of the Government their questions. The parliamentarians were interested in what is the forecast for the development of the situation with the departure of cars with Pridnestrovian plates to Ukraine, how vaccination is progressing in the republic, whether it is planned to continue the program to subsidize the state interest rate.
The Head of the Accounts Chamber Svetlana Izmestyeva and the Prosecutor of the PMR Anatoly Guretsky made reports. They noted in their speeches the issues that the Government needs to pay attention to in future work. Anatoly Guretsky emphasized: the prosecutor's office is constructively cooperating with all authorities, however, measures in connection with the prosecutor's response are not always taken. Targeted spending of budgetary funds, mandatory open bidding procedures for public procurement, solving the problem of solid waste landfills, safety at playgrounds and a number of other issues are among the areas that, according to the Prosecutor, the Government needs to pay attention to.
According to the deputy of the Supreme Council Andrei Safonov, the efforts of all branches of Government and the President last year managed to avoid the greatest dangers.
2020 was a difficult year not only for the PMR, but for the whole world. The world is faced with new challenges. The work of all authorities depended on how effectively Pridnestrovie overcame these difficulties, was able to mobilize all the resources that are in the state and direct them to the fight against COVID.
The report of the Government on the results of its activities for 2020 was taken into account by the Supreme Council. The deputy corps recognized the work of the Government as satisfactory. The resolution of the Supreme Council and reports of the Prosecutor of the PMR and the Head of the Accounts Chamber will be sent to the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
