Two centuries ago, Slobodzeya was considered one of the largest settlements in Tiraspol district of the Kherson province. In Soviet times, it had the status of a village, then a township. At the beginning of the second millennium Slobodzeya becomes a city. Such a decision was adopted on June 12, 2002 by the Supreme Council. The history of Slobodzeya, rich in significant events, stretches for 250 years. The city’s chronicle was supplemented by the opening of the arcade complex and fountain in the central square that took place today.
The Head of the city and the district added that under the capital investment program for 2020, funds of 20 million rubles were allocated for the repair of cultural houses, sidewalks, landscaping of Slobodzeya roads and villages in the district.
Another event in honor of the anniversary of the city was a capsule with a message to the future generation of residents of Slobodzeya. It was decided to open it after a quarter of a century - September 21, 2044.
National courtyards were opened in the morning in the center of Slobodzeya. Exhibitions of works were presented by local craftsmen, collectives of arts and crafts, students and teachers of the Children's Art School and educational organizations of the city.
The joy of the celebration was shared by the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov and parliamentarians representing the interests of residents of the city and the district in the legislature.
Celebration of the 250th anniversary of Slobodzeya continued in the district House of Culture. A solemn meeting and a festive concert took place here.
