The Birthday of National Importance

Chief Transnistrian university marks 86th anniversary of foundation. Today PSU named after Taras Shevchenko - is 11 000 students enrolled in Russian, Moldavian and Ukrainian languages; 1100 teachers, 210 of which are candidates, and 40 - Doctor of Science; institute; two subsidiaries, 10 faculties, 140 departments, three dozen research laboratories. The university collaborates with hundreds of foreign universities and it is a member of numerous international associations of higher education institutions. Its graduates celebrate University, confirming the high quality of received education within its walls, not only in Pridnestrovie, but also far beyond.

The solemn meeting, devoted to the anniversary of PSU, was held in the cultural and educational center of the University. Birthday persons, they are - students, graduates, teachers, veterans - were welcomed by current and former principals. Galina Sandutsa, headed the University in 2014, noted that during the 86 years of its existence the university has become a cultural and historical heritage of the state. One of her predecessors Stepan Beril said there is no accident that the PSU birthday party coincided with the Day of teacher: it confirms the glorious life of the institution, awarded numerous state awards. Andrew Z. Chariton, who led the university from 1977 to 1987 mentioned one of them - the Badge of Honor, handed to the university in the year of the 50th anniversary. Andrei Hariton, who is a member of the Accreditation Commission of Universities, says that many schools have what to learn under Pridnestrovian State University.

The teacher-scholar - parliamentarian Efimy Koval participated in the solemn event.

The second part of the celebration - the student festival "Viva, Academy!" - will be held in the afternoon. The major component was a matriculation ceremony.
