One of the most anticipated events is the 2021 Person of the Year contest. Pridnestrovians who have contributed to the development of the economy, healthcare, culture and sports take part in it every year. The usual awards on the stage of the Palace of the Republic had to be abandoned due to the pandemic for the second year in a row. The state prizes are awarded to the laureates by the heads of ministries and departments separately. There is a name among the winners that is especially gratifying to name. The public figure of 2021 is the deputy of the Supreme Council Ilona Tyuryaeva. The statuette, medal and diploma were presented to her by Vice Speaker of the Parliament Galina Antyufeeva, Commissioner for Human Rights in the PMR Vyacheslav Kosinsky, Rector of the Pridnestrovian State University Stepan Beril and Head of the Public Chamber of the PMR Vladimir Ladunkin.
It was on the initiative of Ilona Tyuryaeva that 6 years ago a memorial sign was erected in the capital on Larionova Street in honor of the founder of the Russian avant-garde. A huge number of events were devoted to the work of Mikhail Larionov, at which Pridnestrovians learned more about the biography of the world-famous native of Tiraspol and about his paintings. Calendars and booklets were published in his honor. Ilona Petrovna implemented in addition a huge number of socially significant projects in the republic. She presented a series of historical books in which, describing the life of her family, she talks about the history of the country.
The public figure of 2021, Ilona Tyuryaeva, said that she dedicated her victory to the dearest person in her life - mother Tatyana Konstantinovna. She noted that all these years, her mother was next to her, inspired her to new projects and always supported her. She adopted many character traits from her such as love of life, philanthropy.
The "Person of the Year" state contest in Pridnestrovie has been held for more than two decades. The results of 2021 were summed up for the jubilee, 25th time. The title of "Person of the Year" in the nomination "Public figure" was awarded to the vice-speaker of the Parliament, chairman of the Committee on Legislation Galina Antyufeeva in 2007. Parliamentarian Sergei Pisarenko won in the category "Agriculture" in 2010. The honorary title "Person of the Year" in the special nomination "For Contribution to the Restoration of Historical Memory" was given to the Chairman of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and the Media, the head of the "Heirs of Victories" movement Igor Buga and in 2019.
