Igor Buga,"The lessons of history can not be forgotten"

30.10.2018

The remains of 218 victims of political repression, found this year in the powder cellar of the bastion of St. Vladimir of the Tiraspol Fortress, were reburied today in Tiraspol. This was made possible thanks to the continuation of the search work, which last year, with the support of the city authorities, was organized by archaeologists and volunteers of the public movement “The Heirs of the Victory” under the guidance of Deputy Supreme Council Igor Buga. In Pridnestrovie, as in Russia, everyone who was innocently killed and sent to prison camps in the 37–38 years of the last century is remembered on October 30. That terrible period, more than six thousand citizens were killed in the territory of Soviet Moldavia alone.

The appeal of the President of the Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky on the occasion of the memorable day was read out by the state adviser to the President on social issues Anna Volkova.

Anna Volkova remembered her grandfather, who was one of the first engineers who built power plants throughout the Soviet Union. He was repressed in 1938 and sent to Siberia. Until now, no one knows where his grave is.

The tragedy of that time touched the family of the deputy head of the Capital State Administration Nikolai Obruchkov.

It was found out from the archival documents that after the investigation the conviction was signed by three people. People were shot and buried in a common pit. The so-called trio of the NKVD were created and acted throughout the entire Soviet state in order to destroy the "anti-Soviet elements".

Last year, in the powder cellar of the Tiraspol Fortress, the remains of 437 people were found. They were reburied. The parliamentarian assured that the search work will continue next year. Volunteers leave no hope to restore the names of all the victims. According to the volunteer, young people who have personally come into contact with the tragic history of their country will never forget about it and tell their children about it.
