The tradition to meet with members of the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan on the eve of the Day of Remembrance and Glory was revived by President Vadim Krasnoselsky last year. Today in the House of official receptions the President, representatives of all branches of power took part in the discussion of the problems of Afghan soldiers. Among the participants of the conversation there are the chairman of the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan, the deputy of the Supreme Council Igor Buga, as well as the head of the parliamentary committee on social policy, health, labor, family and childhood issues Sergei Cheban.
Igor Buga noted that over the past year thanks to the support of the president, the interaction of all branches of power managed to do a lot: draft laws have been developed and adopted that strengthened the system of defense of internationalist soldiers. This, according to the head of the association, allowed reducing the degree of tension on many issues. The parliamentarian recalled that during the war in Afghanistan, 54 Pridnestrovians were killed, 300 people died later in peacetime. Memory of the dead participants of the meeting honored with a minute of silence.
The President handed awards and certificates to members of the public organization. Then the conversation continued in the tea-drinking format, during which the troubling warriors-internationalists were raised questions.
They talked, for example, about prosthetics. In this issue, according to the president, this year there was a breakthrough. Three of the six Afghan veterans in need of this type of medical services, have already used it. Today, prosthetics of Pridnestrovians is carried out by agreement with Abkhazia and Moscow, in addition, work is underway to resume cooperation in this matter with the Odessa clinic. According to the President, it is necessary in the future to establish similar production in our country.
Another issue that worries the participants of the conversation is the provision of soft loans. The credit on favorable terms is now received by invalids - defenders of Pridnestrovie: the state takes the most part of the loan. As noted today, the granting of this privilege to soldiers-internationalists will be engaged in the government. In the near future the Supreme Council will receive a law-in-draft whose main goal is to release participants of all international wars from paying import customs duties on the car. Earlier such a privilege was granted to the defenders of the PMR, Chernobyl victims and Afghans.
They spoke during the meeting about the need to strengthen the military-patriotic education of the youth, as well as the opening of the museum of the Afghan war in Tiraspol. As it was noted today, a permanent exposition devoted to the heroism of internationalist soldiers will be opened this year. The Afghans will be invited to discuss the concept of the exhibition.
At the end of the meeting, Igor Buga thanked everyone for the fruitful dialogue and invited the president, deputies and representatives of the authorities to take part in commemorative events in honor of the 29th anniversary of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
