Igor Buga, “Afghans have always been, and will be patriots of our republic”

The cultural center has become today a meeting place for soldiers-internationalists, those who in the period 1979-1989 helped the Afghan people fight terrorist groups. The ceremony dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was attended by the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov, Chairman of the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan, deputy of the Supreme Council Igor Buga, parliamentarians, military and international relations, and their near and dear ones.

The Afghan war claimed the lives of 15 thousand Soviet soldiers, 60 thousand were injured. Fulfilling international duty, 54 natives of Pridnestrovians died. In a memorable evening, the memory of the soldiers was honored by name.

Afghans defended the republic in 1992. According to the chairman of the Pridnestrovian Association, Igor Buga, the Delta battalion was created in those years, the Afghans joined the guard, served in the 14th Russian army. During the armed conflict on both sides, 27 internationalist soldiers died.

The memory of military events today is alive. Three years ago, the Heirs to the Victory military-patriotic club was created at the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan, it became the Republican youth movement last year, headed by President Vadim Krasnoselsky.

Vadim Krasnoselsky recalled December 1979, when his father Nikolai Vasilyevich was sent to Afghanistan.

A great contribution to the military-patriotic education of young people on the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, the Order of Honor was awarded to unions of veterans of the war in Afghanistan in cities and regions of the republic for their work on social protection of war veterans in Afghanistan. A number of Pridnestrovians were awarded the medals "For Labor Valor", as well as letters and letters of thanks from the President.

He presented a books “Living on our land” and “Pridnestrovian character” to the Pridnestrovian Association of War Veterans in Afghanistan.

A holiday program was prepared in honor of the memorable date. The vocal and dance performances for the veterans of the “Afghans” were presented by the creative teams of the republic. At the end of the concert, the heroes of the occasion were invited to taste the soldiers' porridge.
