The State Customs Committee of Pridnestrovie celebrates its 30th anniversary

30.09.2022

The State Customs Committee of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the department. The solemn meeting was held in the great hall of the Palace of the Republic. The President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov, Head of the Government Alexander Rosenberg took part in it.

Chairman of the PMR State Customs Committee Valentin Grabko in his speech spoke about the achievements of the customs service: the introduction of advanced technologies, the creation of comfortable conditions for doing business and attracting investments to the country. These principles of the activities of customs authorities are aimed at protecting economic security, the Head of the State Customs Committee emphasized. An important aspect is the shift in focus from control and fiscal functions to advisory ones. This is facilitated by the improvement of the Customs Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the updated version of which was adopted in 2018. Cardinal reforms determined a new concept of customs activity in Pridnestrovie. It is based on a fair balance of interests of economic agents and the state. Some of the innovations made it possible to simplify customs procedures and intensify foreign trade processes. The Supreme Council adopted new amendments to the Customs Code, which were the result of the reforms in customs legislation that began in 2018 in July 2020. Now 68% of imports are registered within one minute, 97% are processed using automation, and 84% of export declarations are issued without the participation of a customs inspector. The plans include the centralization of all databases and systems of the State Customs Committee, the introduction of technologies for automatic (without the participation of customs officers) decision-making on the release of goods.

Valentin Grabko announced the latest figures, emphasizing that the budget revenues have been stable for five years: the customs authorities provide half of the state's income, about 2.5 million rubles are received daily by the state treasury through the State Customs Committee.

Customs payments replenished the country's budget by 540 million rubles during eight months of 2022. Despite the complicated geopolitical circumstances, the total trade turnover is 37% higher than the same period last year. More than 700 violations of customs legislation were revealed during eight months. More than 2 million rubles were collected in the form of fines, and about 500 thousand rubles were collected as customs payments based on the results of consideration of administrative cases. As part of criminal cases, narcotic drugs and tobacco products were confiscated.

Representatives of the State Customs Committee of the PMR were congratulated by the President of the PMR at the solemn meeting on the anniversary. Vadim Krasnoselsky focused on the fact that the formation of the Pridnestrovian customs began a few months after the end of hostilities to protect Pridnestrovie practically from scratch. Vadim Krasnoselsky expressed his gratitude to the founders and veterans of the PMR State Customs Committee. The President focused on the paramount importance of the personnel component of any department.

Aiming the staff of the Pridnestrovian customs bodies for further effective activity, the President recalled an important principle: formalism is destructive and counterproductive in any sphere of public and state-civil relations, writes the website of the PMR President.

The President awarded a number of employees of various departments of the State Customs Committee of the PMR with state awards on the occasion of the anniversary. Vadim Krasnoselsky was awarded the jubilee medal "30 years of the customs authorities of the PMR".

The solemn event continued with a concert program.
