On August 23, 1944, during the legendary Iasi-Chisinau operation, Bendery was liberated from Nazi invaders. Almost immediately, restoration work began in the city. One-story building in Kirov Street began to be lifted from the ruins among the first ... Three months later, on December 9, the first children's music school in the Moldavian USSR was opened here. The seven-year plan developed rapidly. The ranks of school teachers joined the musicians who returned from the front. They founded the first brass band on the basis of the school, and then the first school symphony orchestra. It was headed by Boris Ivanovich Petko-Wolpe. He became the head of the orchestra of Moldavian national instruments “Strugurash”.
Over the years, the school team was led by Elena Lipova, Galina Utkina, Gennady Patrusov, Ivan Gorokhovsky, Marina Timofeeva. At present, the graduate of the children's music school is the former graduate Andrei Nikiforenko.
There are unique pages in the history of the school. In the mid-1950s, a bold project was completed - the production of the opera Little Red Riding Hood, and later the second opera production - Andriesh. At the time, musicians and world-class groups performed at the school: Dmitry Shostakovich, Leonid Kogan, the choir named after Pyatnitsky.
The President’s welcome address was presented by the Chairman of the Supreme Council. Alexander Korshunov presented the school principal with two gifts at once: a presidential certificate for the purchase of musical instruments and a deputy certificate for the purchase of furniture.
Thanks to the professionalism of teachers, school students are winners in various competitions and festivals, reach great heights in the field of art. Among them there are 16 presidential scholarship holders. Over 75 years, more than 4 thousand children have become its graduates. Many graduates continued their musical education at higher educational institutions and became first-class specialists. 400 of them chose music as their profession.
A festive concert was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the founding. Teachers of the school and its current students, as well as the famous creative groups of Pridnestrovie took part in it. As noted at the celebration, this anniversary is only a preparation for the centenary. This means there are many creative plans, victories and accomplishments ahead.
