17.03.2023

Performances, concerts, festivals, exhibitions, film screenings – over 6.5 thousand events last year were held by state institutions subordinate to the State Service for Culture and Historical Heritage of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. These are the Theatre named after Aronetskaya, the Palace of the Republic, the Art Museum, the Rubinstein Institute of Arts, the Postoykin Art College and the Republican Film and Video Center. Most of them are screenings in the Tiraspol cinema. The number of events and the number of spectators has increased significantly compared to 2020 and 2021, when coronavirus quarantine restrictions were in place.

The results of activities for 2022 were presented by the Head of the State Service for Culture Maria Kyrmyz, to the Government and the Supreme Council. The Head of the department noted that the State Service in addition to 6 state institutions oversees the work of another 304 institutions of culture and art in cities and regions of the republic. Thematic events were held for the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory, the 32nd anniversary of the formation of Pridnestrovie, for the celebration of Martisor, Pancake festival, as well as those dedicated to important historical dates and Orthodox holidays.

Speaking about the adoption of legislative norms, Maria Kyrmyz noted that last year amendments and additions were made to the law “On the Unified State Register of Immovable Cultural Heritage Objects of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”. The State Register was supplemented with 37 monuments of art (mosaic and sgrafitto), 1 historical monument on the territory of the Bendery fortress. The details of 39 objects located within the historical boundaries of the Bendery fortress were specified at the level of the law.

According to the program of the Capital Investment Fund, repairs were carried out in the District House of Culture in Kamenka and in the House of Culture in the village of Podoyma. Work was carried out in the Houses of Culture in the Slobodzeya district in the village of Nezavertailovka and the village of Frunze. The area in front of the House of Culture in the village of Protyagailovka has also been ennobled. Repair work was completed in Bendery at the Memorial Museum of the Bendery Tragedy: restoration of the facades of the building, overhaul of the basement and replacement of engineering systems; acquired the necessary equipment for the museum.

Noting positive aspects, Maria Kyrmyz said that a phased renewal of the material and technical base in cultural and art institutions continued, major and cosmetic repairs were carried out in 2022.

According to the state program to support young families in the purchase of housing, 3 specialists of cultural institutions of the Dubossary district received certificates for subsidies.

The Head of the department spoke about the needs – there is not enough funding allocated by local budgets for the acquisition of library funds. This does not allow carrying out a full subscription campaign and purchasing literature. Many institutions of culture and art are in need of major repairs and material and technical equipment.

Concluding the report on the work of the department for the past year, Maria Kyrmyz emphasized that the State Service for Culture and Historical Heritage will continue to carry out activities within the framework of the state target program "Preservation of immovable cultural heritage objects of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic requiring urgent repairs for 2019-2024". Joint work will be carried out with the state administration of Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk to create an exposition of the State Museum of Local History. Activities will continue to preserve and popularize the cultural heritage, traditions and rituals of the peoples living in the territory of Pridnestrovie.
