The state program for replacing street lamps has been adopted

15.05.2024

The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic adopted in final reading the draft of the new state target program “Replacement of lamps with mercury-containing lamps for street lighting of public roads in the PMR, which are in state and municipal ownership, with LED lamps”. The state program will begin to operate this year after signing by the President; it is designed until 2028.

The draft state program was proposed by the Government. The republic already has experience in installing and using modern LED lamps, which are produced in our republic by JSC Elektromash. LED lamps are energy efficient, consuming up to 50% less energy than mercury lamps. This leads to a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a reduction in the negative environmental impact of generating electricity for street lighting, as well as reducing financial costs. The average design power of operated mercury street lamps is 150 W according to the presented calculations, LEDs – about 77 W.

It is planned as part of the state program to replace about 5 thousand street mercury-containing lamps with LEDs per year. Funding for the purchase of LED lamps will be allocated from the republican budget; it will be a little more than 7 million rubles in 2024. When preparing the law-in-draft for the second reading, the specialized Committee on Agro-Industrial Complex and Transport prepared a table of amendments, which prescribe among other things financial support for the implementation of the program and that the work on replacing the lamps (dismantling and recycling of old lamps and installation of new ones) will be financed by the contractor, on which balances street lighting networks, that is the State Unitary Enterprise "ERES".

The First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the PMR thanked the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for its support and adoption of the draft state program for the replacement of street lamps.

According to the explanatory note, the presented law-in-draft, aimed at improving the quality of life of the population, increasing the level of comfort and safety of living for citizens of the republic, and solving key problems in updating and modernizing its infrastructure, was developed as part of the implementation of the “Development Strategy of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic for 2019-2026”.
