The necessity to develop and adopt a targeted program for prevention of viral hepatitis B and C is associated with unfavorable epidemiological situation of viral hepatitis in our republic.
The territories of Moldova and the PMR rank first in the world in mortality from liver cirrhosis according to international organizations. Approximately 70-72 deaths per 100 thousand of the population are registered annually.
The total budget of the program is approximately 40 million rubles. The program provides for treatment and preventive measures to prevent new cases of viral hepatitis B and C.
Viral hepatitis is successfully treated in many countries now. According to statistics, about 99% of people get rid of the disease. Modern medicines have been developed, and the treatment period has been reduced to 2 months. The cost of the course of treatment has dropped significantly.
In addition, patients are treated on an outpatient basis, and there is no need for hospitalization. The program provides for keeping records of patients. The money will be spent in three areas - prevention, diagnosis and treatment. It is planned to cover with the treatment about 50% of patients with viral hepatitis in our republic, during the period of the program.
Preventive measures will include media coverage, community outreach, booklets, leaflets and lectures. It is planned to create a website where data from all medical institutions of the republic will be collected. The Supreme Council deputies supported the new state program and adopted the law-in-draft in the first reading. The work on the program will continue in the second reading, taking into account the comments and suggestions made during the discussion.
