Accommodation, meals, social assistance and formal employment – such opportunities will be soon provided by the state to residents of Ukraine who arrived in Pridnestrovie. The Supreme Council today at the plenary session adopted the law-in-draft "On measures of state support for foreign citizens and stateless persons arriving from the territory of Ukraine and temporarily staying on the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic" in the first reading. It was sent by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the mode of legislative necessity.
According to the data as of April 13, which were presented by the Operational Headquarters for Assistance to Foreign Citizens Forced to Temporarily Stay on the Territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic from February 24:
- more than 29300 foreign citizens entered Pridnestrovie;
– almost 23000 of them registered in the PMR;
– 1580 people used refugee centers.
- 435 guests (172 of them are children) are in temporary residences;
The law-in-draft proposes to provide for the possibility of temporary employment of foreign citizens and stateless persons who arrived in the republic from Ukraine in a simplified manner and termination of the employment contract within three days, to provide the necessary medical examinations for employment free of charge, to provide social assistance, and for children to attend kindergartens and schools in Pridnestrovie, receive free meals and writing materials for study.
Presenting the law-in-draft, Minister for Social Protection and Labor of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Elena Kulichenko noted that residents of Ukraine apply to social protection centers in different cities of the republic in search of work, 4 people have already been employed. According to the head of the Ministry of Social Protection, 556 children of foreign citizens who arrived from Ukraine receive free meals in schools, 343 children in kindergartens, and 6 children in correctional institutions.
The Supreme Council adopted the law-in-draft in the first reading. The Profile Committee, together with specialists from the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor, will work to prepare for the second reading the law-in-draft “On measures of state support for foreign citizens and stateless persons arriving from the territory of Ukraine and temporarily staying on the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”. It will submit it for adoption in final reading to the plenary session of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
