The participants of the conference “The Role of Interaction between the Factions of Political Parties and Blocs in the Inter-Parliamentary Agreement of the CIS Countries” discusses the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation. The conference agenda includes issues of harmonization of national legislations and issues of joint opposition to emerging challenges and threats. According to Ivan Melnikov, the chairmen of the parliaments regularly hold bilateral meetings and “discuss the most topical issues of inter-parliamentary and interstate cooperation”. "Friendship groups" are actively working with many parliaments and other bilateral commissions that regularly meet. Fruitful cooperation has been established in specific areas at the level of relevant committees, as well as members of the parliament of the CIS countries regularly meet at various inter-parliamentary platforms.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, head of the United Russia faction Sergei Neverov, the task of inter-parliamentary cooperation is, above all, increasing the level of trust between the countries.
Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council during the exchange of views supported the proposal to establish a Coordinating Council of Parliaments of the CIS countries, acting on a permanent basis. Galina Antyufeyeva raised the issue of facilitating the procedure for acquiring citizenship of the Russian Federation by compatriots living outside its borders.
In addition to this, Galina Antyufeyeva offered her colleagues a regular conference of the leaders of the factions of the parliaments of the CIS countries to hold in Tiraspol on the basis of the Supreme Council of the PMR.
