At the opening of the autumn session of the Supreme Council of the plenary session on September 6, President Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the people's representatives. He asked parliamentarians to support his appeal to the United Nations. Then the head of the Commission of the Supreme Council for Foreign Policy and International Relations Galina Antyufeeva, colleagues-parliamentarians instructed to convene a meeting of the commission for a detailed study of the text of the official appeal to the UN. It was held yesterday, after which this issue was included to the agenda of today's plenary meeting under No. 1.
The document was presented to parliamentarians by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatyev. He said that after the adoption of the appeal by the Supreme Council, its signing by the President and the head of the legislature, it will be sent to the UN Secretary General and the chairman of the most authoritative international organization that opened the 72nd session of the General Assembly.
Request to consider the possibility of granting the PMR a special observer status in the UN, the creation of a special commission or group on Pridnestrovie issues, as well as the possibility of preparing a declaration or a UN statement on the inadmissibility of any sanctions and restrictive measures against our republic the main points of the appeal.
As part of the discussion of the text of the appeal, the deputies asked a number of questions. They concerned the attitude of the Russian Federation to the appeal addressed to the UN, the probability of being heard by the world community, the continuation of the peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester, with Russia playing the leading role.
For the adoption and forwarding of the appeal to the United Nations, the deputies voted unanimously.
