Saint George's Ribbon

The Saint George's ribbon campaign has started in Pridnestrovie. Volunteers will distribute it to everyone for several days. Passing along the main square of the city, along Gagarin Boulevard, near the Ternopol shopping center and along the Pobeda park residents of Tiraspol and guests of the Capital were able to receive a Saint George's ribbon – a symbol of respect for the historical memory of the winners.

Students of the Pridnestrovian State University took part in the Saint George's ribbon mass event in Tiraspol.

This is the first mass event of this kind for many young people, but they prepared in advance for the distribution of Saint George's ribbons.

The Saint George's Ribbon for volunteers is a tribute to the memory of great-grandfathers and grandfathers who fought and won in the Great Patriotic War. According to the Head of the Department of Youth Policy of the Ministry of Education of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Galina Ratushnyak, more than a thousand ribbons will be distributed in the republic in the next few days.

May 9 marks 77 years since the Victory of the USSR in the Great Patriotic War. It is in memory of the feat of millions of citizens that every year the Saint George's Ribbon mass event takes place in Pridnestrovie. People decorate clothes with the Saint George's Ribbon, hang it in a prominent place in the car. Saint George's Ribbons are distributed to everyone on the streets, in parks and squares.

This symbol of memory and Victory in the Great Patriotic War, despite the prohibitions, is honored in many countries of the world. Similar mass events are taking place in Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, India, Peru, Jordan, Serbia, Tunisia and many other states. People whose grandfathers and great-grandfathers saved the world from fascism talk about how dear this tradition is to them.
