The Supreme Council adopted the law "On land reclamation in the PMR" on the eve. The question of restoring the reclamation system of Pridnestrovie has been going on for a long time and at different levels. The last dry years forced both the agrarians and the state to take more active steps to restore the irrigation systems we inherited from the Soviet Union. It is no secret that our republic is located in the zone of risky farming, therefore, it is impossible to count on guaranteed harvest without artificial irrigation.
The moisture content in the soil has decreased significantly in recent years, due to climatic changes. This immediately affected the yield of the main agricultural crops.
The essence of the law adopted by the Supreme Council is that along with the basic principles, conceptual apparatus, issues of ownership of material assets, the sources of financing for this industry are determined. The Parliament introduced a tax of 4 MW per hectare of farmland per year for land users earlier for these purposes. The main task is to provide agricultural land with reclamation networks. The law provides for the obligation of the Government to develop state targeted program for development of the reclamation complex in Pridnestrovie.
It will be seen how well and harmoniously all the principles laid down in the basic document work already in the course of the implementation of the law "On land reclamation in the PMR" in practice. If necessary, the Supreme Council is ready to promptly make the necessary additions so that the law functions effectively and meets the goals and objectives that were set during its development.
