Expert from the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights Oleg Ivannikov arrived in Pridnestrovie on a working visit. The Vice-Speaker of the Parliament Galina Antyufeyeva met with the Russian human rights activist today in the Supreme Council of the PMR.
They discussed issues related to violations of the rights and freedoms of Pridnestrovians, including those related to the process of the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement, as well as issues of social nature, interaction in the sphere of protecting the rights of Russian citizens and compatriots living in our republic.
Galina Antyufeyeva is confident that thanks to the interaction of Pridnestrovian human rights defenders and Russian colleagues, it will be possible to jointly and consolidate make the right decisions and help resolve the problems faced by Pridnestrovian citizens. The protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens is the primary task of all state governing bodies of Pridnestrovie.
Russian human rights activist Oleg Ivannikov said that the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights has existed for over 15 years and is the most authoritative Russian human rights organization. The main goals and objectives of the organization are already in the name. This is the protection of human rights and freedoms. Oleg Ivannikov added that he was working in our republic for the first time and he studied the situation remotely.
The expert explained that a report will be formed, which will be sent to the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation and the General Prosecutor's Office to conduct inspections in some cases and to develop recommendations on how to correct the situation in other cases. For example, this concerns the impossibility for Pridnestrovians to replace an expired Russian passport.
The Russian human rights activist considers that pressure on the republic has increased from both Moldova and Ukraine from 2014. According to experts from the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights, the current situation is unacceptable, economic pressure always leads to negative consequences. Therefore, such issues need to be discussed at international venues.
