Galina Antyufeeva, "Peacekeepers finished the war and brought the long-awaited peace"

27.07.2017

Vice Speaker Galina Antyufeeva, who took part in the opening of the monument to peacekeepers, comments on the significance of the peacekeeping operation for Pridnestrovians.

They rewrite history in many countries, demolish monuments to fallen soldiers in battles. Pridnestrovie, where they remember their roots and history, opening a monument to peacekeepers, confirms that it is very different from such states. With a feeling of great gratitude to the peacekeepers, our people pay tribute to the military servicemen from among the joint peacekeeping forces. Thanks to these soldiers and officers in our land, peace and tranquility. Each of us has the right to live in our own home, speak his native language, and be sure that tomorrow there will be no shots above our heads.

The opening of the monument is important for all of us. We remember how 25 years ago we met Russian peacekeepers - with flowers, smiles, tears in our eyes, a desire to embrace every soldier who came here to end the war and bring the long-awaited peace. Such exciting moments will never be forgotten.

It is very important that the world is not only kept by the Russian military, but also by the representatives of the conflicting parties - Pridnestrovie and Moldova, this is the uniqueness of this peacekeeping operation. People in uniform carry a military watch every day to protect the people living here. Of course, in the 21st century it would be desirable that we remove the borders to live in harmony - in the future, probably, so it will be. Today, for all of us, the general holiday is 25 years since the beginning of the peacekeeping operation. Thanks to the soldiers in blue helmets, on which the letters MC are inscribed, we have the opportunity to build a peaceful life.

The uniqueness of this peacekeeping operation is in the fact that peacekeepers and civilians speak one language that everyone understands. Peacekeepers are dear to us people in spirit and desire to live in peace and harmony. This experience needs to be studied and adopted in other hot spots, which, unfortunately, in the world is becoming more and more.
