On April 12, on the Day of Liberation of Tiraspol from the Nazi invaders, the capital Memorial of Glory gathered veterans of the Great Patriotic War, labor and armed forces, prisoners of fascist camps, children of war, leadership of the republic, residents and guests of the city. There were words of gratitude to the Soviet soldiers-liberators. The memory of the fallen heroes was honored with a minute of silence. Wreath to the eternal flame was laid by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky. Fresh flowers to the marble slabs, where the names of Soviet soldiers, defenders of Pridnestrovie are immortalized.
Representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo shared the day of memory of the courage of Soviet soldiers with Tiraspol residents. The Head of the Office for CIS Affairs of Rossotrudnichestvo Sergey Malenko said that for the first time he became a member of a memorable event for Pridnestrovians.
Among those who came to commemorate the defenders is Vitaly Glebov, member of the deliberative meeting under the Chairman of the Supreme Council. Vitaly Ivanovich annually takes part in the commemorative events held in the capital, and considers it important that young people take an example from the heroes, veterans and children of the war.
Valery Glazkov was born in the year of liberation, in 1944. His father, Ivan Dmitrievich - a cadre officer, a naval pilot, fought in the Arctic. Valery Ivanovich followed in his father’s footsteps, graduated from the Suvorov and Higher Military School. Today, Valery Glazkov heads the Armed Forces Committee of the Council of Veterans of Tiraspol is a member of the Public Council under the capital's state administration.
The festive events in the center of the capital continued with the conduct of the athletics relay. Photo zones, field kitchen, master classes, an exhibition of military equipment are organized for residents and guests of Tiraspol.
