The Bendery fortress has towers over the Dniester - a symbol of courage and steadfastness of the Russian army. The names of many Great Russian generals are inextricably linked with the fortress in Bendery, whose walls have been visited for many years by many: assaults, arsons, raids of conquerors. The land on the banks of the Dniester is abundantly watered by the blood of Russian soldiers. They are well aware of this in Pridnestrovie; carefully keep every bit of history, not allowing falsifications. The proof of this is the opening of monuments and memorials to Russian soldiers. Today, in the territory of the Bendery Fortress, monuments to the military commanders who took part in the capture of Bendery in 1789, Major-General Yakov Kulnev and Field Marshal General Mikhail Barclay de Tolly.
The opening ceremony was attended by the President Vadim Krasnoselsky, the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Shcherba, the first president of Pridnestrovie Igor Smirnov, deputies, heads of ministries and departments, members of the consultative assembly of the first Pridnestrovian deputies. The guest of honor of the holiday was the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Moldova Farit Mukhametshin.
Monuments were erected on the initiative of President Vadim Krasnoselsky, joined the Alley of Glory of the Great Russian generals in the Bendery fortress.
The right to open memorable busts was given to the President of Pridnestrovie and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Moldova. It was the Russian embassy that helped to install the monuments. Speaking at the inauguration of the busts, Ambassador Farit Mukhametshin thanked the President Vadim Krasnoselsky for taking care of Russian history in Pridnestrovie.
Continuity of generations is what our republic has always been famous for. Pridnestrovians do not topple monuments and do not rename the streets, but carefully keep the great heritage.
Leadership of the republic and the Russian guests laid flowers to the foot of the monuments. An excursion through the territory of the Bendery fortress was organized for all comers at the end of the solemn part.
