The “People of God” exhibition of Pridnestrovian photographer Valery Kruglikov was opened in the hall near the meeting room in the building of the PMR Supreme Council. It was timed to coincide with several important events in the life of the Orthodox of our region – the completion of celebrations dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese, and the upcoming Nativity of Christ. The opening of the exhibition was attended by Deputy Speaker of Parliament Galina Antyufeyeva, parliamentarians and representatives of the clergy.
Valery Kruglikov is a famous Pridnestrovian photographer. He has been seeing through the lens of his camera all, without exception, the main events that take place in our republic for more than 30 years. The photojournalist has been actively collaborating with the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese over the past few years. He presented about 8 thousand photographs during the preparation of this exhibition. Several dozen were selected. Among Valery Kruglikov’s favorite photographs is a photograph taken in September 2013, when Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia came to Pridnestrovie on a pastoral visit.
Photos of Valery Kruglikov are known to many Pridnestrovians. They are posted in textbooks and constantly published in the media. They said at the exhibition that by collaborating with the Tiraspol-Dubossary diocese, the photographer together with the clergy preserves the cultural heritage of our region. It helps to show Pridnestrovie as Orthodox. About 90% of the population indeed consider themselves Orthodox Christians despite the fact that representatives of 72 nationalities and nationalities live here on this small piece of land.
It’s not just priests in Valery Kruglikov’s photographs. The President, a child in a temple, a monk resting on a bench, modern nurses. The moments captured in photographs will now remain in memory and history. The exhibition will be on display in the Supreme Council building until the end of January.
Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov and Vice-Speaker Galina Antyufeyeva, with the blessing of Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Sawa, were awarded the diocesan badges of the Hieromartyr Stefan of Slobodzeya as part of the opening ceremony of the photo exhibition.
