There is intrigue: the last opinion polls were published before the elections

13.03.2018

March 12 is the last day when Russians can learn from social surveys about the preferences of fellow citizens in presidential elections. According to the law, it is forbidden to disclose the results of research and forecasts in Russia five days before voting for the President and directly on election day. The All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center published the results of a weekly poll on voters' preferences on the eve of presidential elections. The leader of the rating remains the current president Vladimir Putin - 69% of respondents are ready to give their votes for him. In the second place - the candidate from the Communist Party Pavel Grudinin, 7% of respondents intends to support him. LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, for whom 5% of respondents are ready to vote is at the top three leaders.

The listed candidates lost one percent of supporters for a few weeks. Ksenia Sobchak and Sergey Baburin, on the contrary, purchased one additional item: seven days before the election, they are ready to support two and one percent of All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center respondents, respectively. The rating of Grigory Yavlinsky remained at the level of one percent without changes, as well as Maxim Suraykin and Boris Titov, who is supported by less than a percent of those polled.

As it was reported in the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center, the awareness of the Russians about the upcoming elections reached a maximum: 92% of citizens are aware of which event will occur on March 18, 2018.

However, the turnout on the voting day is predicted at the level of 63-70%. So, according to All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center 74% of respondents expressed their readiness to participate in voting in polls, another 9% are inclined to such a decision. 9% of respondents did not decide on the answer to this question. 4% of respondents will definitely not vote, and 2% will most likely ignore the elections.

Many experts say that the current presidential campaign has a so-called referendum character, and its results are beyond doubt. Nevertheless, this did not prevent the campaign from becoming bright, interesting and even intriguing, noted Alexei Martynov.

The Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko agrees with him to some extent.

According to the Speaker of the Chamber of Regions, the intensity of emotions on the eve of elections will not be avoided, which imposes additional responsibility on the Central Election Commission. The candidates themselves must show responsibility and behave in a balanced way, Valentina Matvienko called. She supposes that "moral, psychological qualities of candidates are as important to voters as professionalism, experience, intellectual baggage".
