Sports grounds, recreation areas, an exhibition hall, a "singing" fountain complex, architectural structures - this is how the central part of Tiraspol looks now. 190 thousand square meters is occupied by the Catherine Park. Its opening is a gift to Pridnestrovians for the 30th anniversary of the republic. The park has been built since 2018 on the initiative of the PMR President Vadim Krasnoselsky and in honor of the Russian empress who signed the decree on the founding of Tiraspol. A monument to Catherine II was unveiled in the capital with the opening of the park. The location of the monuments in the central square of the city is symbolic: Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov hurries on horseback to the Empress with a report that a fortress was founded along the Dniester line to strengthen the southwestern borders of the Russian Empire.
Top officials of the state, residents and guests of Tiraspol were at the official opening of the Catherine Park. The sights of the new resting place were appreciated by the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov and parliamentarians. According to the Speaker of the Parliament, parks are the third whale on which a favorable living environment stands.
There are information plates of the main dates of the republic on the territory of the park. The paving slabs on the main square include ornaments of Moldovan, Ukrainian and Russian motives, which speaks of the multinationality of the Pridnestrovian region. The park has children's play areas and sports facilities.
The "Miracle City" with modern attractions will be built for young visitors of the park. It is planned to open a children's playground in October, by the day of the city of Tiraspol.
